According to the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, between April 27 and May 1, Điện Biên received a total of 60,100 tourist arrivals. Of these, 13,500 stayed overnight, bringing the province’s average hotel occupancy rate to 56.3%. Total tourism revenue during the holiday period was estimated at VND 182 billion.

To ensure a safe, orderly, and enjoyable experience for both tourists and residents, the Department implemented a range of proactive measures. It instructed districts, towns, cities, and tourism businesses to prepare detailed plans to maintain safety, security, and fire prevention at tourist sites and service facilities. The department also emphasized strict adherence to tourism laws, especially with regard to transparent pricing and selling goods and services at listed prices.

Hotline numbers were made public to promptly receive and address tourist feedback and any arising issues.

This year’s holiday was made even more meaningful as it coincided with several major historical anniversaries. The department successfully organized a special art performance marking the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 -  April 30, 2025), the 71st anniversary of the Điện Biên Phủ Victory (May 7, 1954 -  May 7, 2025), and the 135th birthday of President Hồ Chí Minh (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2025), creating a joyful and vibrant atmosphere that drew wide public and tourist attention.

In addition, the Department actively coordinated the Flag Raising Ceremony and the Inauguration of the A Pa Chải Flagpole  -  a sacred symbol of national sovereignty at the westernmost point of Việt Nam. Preparations are also underway for the grand opening of the Mường Thanh Luxury Điện Biên Hotel, scheduled for May 7, which is expected to enhance the province’s high-end accommodation offerings and boost overall tourism service quality.
